Certified Montessori Teachers

MLC staff have satisfactorily completed the teacher education course for instruction according to the principles of Montessori education and  have earned their certificates of competency in Montessori Early Childhood Education (Ages 2 1/2 - 8).  All of the staff members are enthusiastic, creative, responsible, caring Montessori qualified teachers enriching the students with a high education by using their knowledge and experience to teach young children.  They provide the students at MLC a loving environment that is stimulating, comfortable, and appropriate for their needs.  MLC staff have completed the NCME requirements for the Montessori Early Childhood Education Diploma.  They have worked months and months, listening to lectures, watching demonstrations, reading Dr. Montessori's books, preparing albums, practicing with the apparatus, studying, completing all their practicum requirements, and taking their final exams.   I am  proud to state that the MLC staff has completed all the courses with over a 3.0! Below is a listing of the different courses the certified Montessori teachers at MLC have taken:

DIRECTOR / OWNER

Jessica is a native of California, raised and educated in San Diego.  She received her AMI Montessori teaching training in 2001 from the Montessori Teacher's College in La Jolla.  In addition, Jessica received her California Child Development teaching certificate in May 2001. Bringing over 20 years experience in business management, she opened the Montessori Learning Center in 2005. She can hardly believe she gets paid to bring her leadership abilities to an academic environment where so many interesting people appreciate what she does. She and her husband Diego Velasquez are the proud parents of Montessori alumni Alexis, Diego, and Iberia. Jessica thrives on taking long walks with her family who share her relentless fascination with the desire to sort out the world. She is a voracious reader, especially of historical fiction and memoirs. An explorer by nature, Jessica loves the arts, discovers the history wherever she travels and plans to take a backpacking trip to Europe with her family.


 


HEAD TEACHER

Born in San Diego and raised in Tijuana, Mexico has made her become a more open-minded person. She holds a AMS Montessori Teaching Credential from the Centro de Ensenanza. Jenny volunteered during the summer programs at Montessori Learning Center, where she fell in love with the facility. Since then, Jenny has been the director of communications and development for Montessori Learning Center since 2006.  In her spare time, Jenny enjoys traveling and making handmade Montessori material for MLC.
